terms and conditions

1) General terms

Legalese:

By accessing this site, you agree to be bound by these terms of service, all applicable laws and regulations, and agree that you are responsible for compliance with any applicable local laws. If you do not agree with any of these terms, you are prohibited from using or accessing this site. The materials contained in this site are protected by applicable copyright and trademark law.

Human-readable:

This is my place. I built it and i own it. You are welcome to use it and enjoy your time, but don't pretend it's your place, don't steal from it and don't do anything illegal here. Also, there are house rules, and you are expected to abide to them. By staying here, you agree to comply to the law and to the house rules. If you don't like the idea, then GTFO and do not return.

2) Disclaimer

This site is provided on a "as is" basis. You have no guarantee that it will work smoothly, continuously and free or errors nor that it will perform up to your satisfaction. However, i DO want this site to work smoothly, continuously and free of errors and i want users to be happy of it, so i'll do my damn best in order to achieve this result.

The author, a.k.a. "yours truly", is not responsible for any losses, damages or inconveniences caused to you by both your inability to use this site AND your irresponsible use of this site. You use this site at your own risk, and it's up to you to do it responsibly. If, by spending too much time here, you end up missing appointments, interviews or classes, if you are late to work and end up reprimanded, disciplined or fired, or if your girlfriend dumps your sorry ass because you're paying more attention to a stupid website than to her, then you suck and you should not blame others for your poor choices.

In case you are underage, then it should be your parents' job to supervise you and to prevent you from putting more important things, like your grades, in jeopardy by spending too much time on this website, or on any website. Therefore, you still suck but your parents also suck and they should not blame others for their poor parenting skills.

3) Global user account

In order to use games and features offered by this site, you need to create a global user account (from now on: GUA) and log in into it, unless explicitely stated otherwise. A user must always be logged in to be able to save a game state, even if the game itself can be played without logging in.

You can create a GUA in two ways: by using the sign up form (internal account) or by logging in with either Facebook or Google (social account).

If you choose to use the sign up form, you will have to provide a valid email address and validate your account with the confirmation email you will receive to that address no later than 3 days from the moment you signed up; non-validated accounts will be suspended after 3 days and deleted after one month; i understand it may be a pain in the ass, but it's necessary to ward off spam bots and other garbage, so please suck it up.

If you choose the latter, you won't need to input any data at all: a user record will be created on the fly the first time you log in with your social account and used to identify you afterwards. Moreover, your account will be considered valid by default by the fact that the social media account used to log in does exist.

You also have the option to link your internal account with a social login, or vice-versa, and you are encouraged to do so because having multiple ways to access your account lessens the risk of losing access to it.

A GUA must be owned by an individual natural person, and an individual natural person is allowed to own one single GUA. Shared GUAs are forbidden. Multiple GUAs owned or controlled by the same person (multiaccounting) are forbidden as well. Put it simple: one person <-> one global user account.

If you're underage, you can sign up only if your parents or legal guardians had consented to it. As this site does not ask users for personal informations, nor it tries to fetch them off a social media you may be using to log in, it is always assumed that a registered user is either a legal adult or an underage person using this site under consent and supervision by their parents or legal guardians.

You cannot transfer, nor you can make available, your global user account to a third party, unless i give you explicit prior permission, and unless you have a very compelling reason for it, don't even bother asking.

You are required to keep your login data secret at all times and to protect them from unauthorized third-party access. I'm not going to invest sleepless nights into coding complex routines to detect unauthorized account transfers or sharings, so if you do it there's a chance you'll get away with it, but please keep in mind that the moment you give access to your GUA to somebody, you basically give this somebody the power to destroy everything you've built here. So don't be an idiot, keep your login shit to yourself, and save some poor chap the hassle of listening to the ramblings of a douchebag who had his global user account permanently deleted the day his girlfriend found out he was cheating on her.

4) Games, Game accounts and game spaces

From your GUA you can create, manage and delete individual game accounts. You are responsible of keeping your game account safe from unauthorized third-party access, as it happens with the GUA. If you leave your game account unattended and someone does funny things with it while you're blissfully taking a dump in the nearest restroom, you have only yourself to blame.

A single game can have more than one "game space", also called "servers" or "universes". Game spaces are areas of the same game that are separate and independent from each other, with the possible exception of game space mergers. In other words, game accounts belonging to a specific game space cannot interact in any way with game accounts of a different game space. You can create only one game account per game per game space, unless specifically stated otherwise. Actually, taken aside game spaces where this restriction is lifted, the system prevents you from creating multiaccounts altogether, so don't even bother trying.

An individual game account can be transfered to a third-party and can be temporarly put under the supervision of another user (sitting), but only with the appropriate tools available on the site, and with specific restrictions that will be explained in detail in the rulebook of the individual game. By using the account transfer tool and the account sitting tool, you are assumed to be in knowledge of the applied restrictions and you are required to comply with them. Any other way of transfering or sitting game accounts is forbidden.

5) User interface

This site is meant to be used by humans, with the user interface provided by the site as it is. It is forbidden to use anything other that the web browser to interact with any part of this site. This expecially refers to bots or other tools that are meant to replace the web interface, to replace the human player, or to automate any part of the gameplay.

Seriously, if you sign up with a game and let a bot play it in your place, not only you are a cheater but you are also a moron and you should rethink your life. And if you resort to using an autorefresher or an alert script to not get crushed in a competitive game, then you're still a cheater and a moron but also an abject failure of a player. Learn to play, be proud of your achievements and own up to your mistakes as any normal person would do, both in a game and in real life.

Scripts or other tools that enhance the user interface, expecially providing additional info to the player, are forbidden as well unless explicitely allowed. Scripts or other tools that just alter the visual aspect of the user interface are allowed. If you like your user interface in bright pink, or with a swarm of crawling cochroaches as your background, and are willing to write an extension for it, by all means go for it, who am i to judge your aesthetics?

6) User-generated content

Any input from a user that can be seen by at least by another user is to be considered user-generated content. This includes names, images, links, and texts published within this site. A simple general rule is: if you post it and there's someone that has at least the possibility to see it, then it's user-generated content.

It is forbidden to post user-generated content that:

  • violates the applicable law;
  • promotes, encourages or glorifies illegal activity, or contains informations useful to put into practice illegal activities (no, i don't want your "thug life" spiel here, and please keep your tips on how to grow weed for yourself, it's still illegal in a lot of places);
  • is blasphemous or obscene, contains racial, ethnic, sexist, homophobic or other group-targeting slurs, or is commonly known to be shocking, unsettling or discomforting for a large part of the general audience, particularly the youth;
  • manifests, promotes, encourages or glorifies hate, violence, intolerance or discrimination against an ethnic, religious or other target group as a whole, or against an individual as part of a target group (i'm not supposed to know anything about you, but if you're a racist of any sort, an incel who despises all women, or a radical feminist who thinks that all men are monsters, then keep your hate out of my site, for if you don't you'll be gone in the time it takes me to fire up a database console and type a DELETE statement on the user table);
  • is insulting, harassing, defamatory, intentionally misleading, intimidating or threatening against an individual, with particular emphasis on real-life threats (seriously, just don't, you're not going to get away with it);
  • contains chain letters, promotes MLMs, pyramid schemes or get-rich-quick schemes (this is also something that will cause your account to be zapped very quickly, so don't even think about it);
  • constitutes advertising or is commercial in nature;
  • discloses personal informations about third parties without their explicit prior consent;
  • discusses, promotes or glorifies political ideologies, political parties, political organizations or political figures, either in office, active, retired or dead, with exception of past figures of historic significance (sorry, but any of that is a shitshow waiting to happen, and i can do happily without the drama, you have lots of platforms to discuss all the political topics you're passionate about, you don't need this one as well);
  • promotes anti-scientific views, pseudoscience and disproven theories or facts (crystal healing believers, anti-vaxxers, flat-earthers and tinfoil hatters in general, you are free to believe in what you want, but this is not the place to discuss these things, thank you very much);

If some user-generated content is found to be in violation of the aforementioned restrictions, the offending content may be edited or deleted, and the offending user may be subject to disciplinary measures discussed in section 7 of this document;

7) Non-compliance to the terms and conditions

In case there is evidence indicating that a user has violated the terms and conditions, and unless the user is shown to not be responsible for the violation, one or more of the following disciplinary measures may be enacted:

  • official warning to the offending user
  • temporary ban the user's game account
  • permanent ban of the user's game account
  • announcement of the violation in the relevant game space, with disclosure of the game account involved (yeah, welcome to the pillory, baby);

In case of particularly serious offenses or multiply repeated offenses, expecially when the behaviour of the user is having a significantly detrimental effect on the gaming experience of other users, the following measures may be enacted:

  • temporary ban of the global user account;
  • permanent ban the global user account (leaving open the possibility of an amend);
  • immediate and irrevocable termination of the global user account (this is the equivalent of a capital punishment, and you have to reach weapons-grade levels of assholery to bring me to that);

8) Cases of account termination

Game accounts that are kept inactive for long periods of time may be terminated. The preconditions for the termination and the inactivity time limit, if exists, are explained in the rulebook of the individual game in question. No game account will be deleted for inactivity unless specifically stated otherwise.

Global user accounts created with the sign up form and suspended for lack of validation will be terminated after 30 days from the suspension, unless validated in the meantime.

Global user accounts that hold no game assets and are kept inactive for more than one year will be terminated.

Global user accounts can be terminated as an ultimate disciplinary measure for particularly egregious violations of the terms and conditions, as stated in section 7 of this document.

A global user account will be terminated if the legitimate owner of the account specifically requests so.

Global user accounts may be terminated as a direct consequence or as a side effect of unforeseeable and/or unavoidable exceptional events that would cause:

  • the physical destruction of the server hosting this site;
  • an unrecoverable loss of data affecting the server hosting this site;
  • the definitive, unrecoverable inability to keep this site up and running;
  • the death or the prolonged or permanent incapacitation of the owner of this site;

The termination of a global user account is irreversible.

Besides the cases of account termination specifically listed in this section, a global user account will last indefinitely.

9) Final statements

This document may be updated at any time. By using this site, you agree to it as it is written at the moment. Therefore, check it once in a while, just to see if perhaps it has been changed to "by using this site, you agree to surrender yourself into slavery for the rest of your life, with its owner as your absolute master."
